VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) is a type of turbocharger. It controls the vanes inside the turbocharger, which increases/decreases exhaust gases driving the turbine wheel and increases/decreases turbo boost based on engine operating conditions.
Most heavy-duty and medium-duty engines are equipped with an electronic VGT turbo actuator (variable geometry turbocharger). When repairing an actuator, replacing the worn turbo actuator gasket is a must for maintaining 100% of the function of the actuator to ensure the greatest turbocharged power.
