Valve Cover Gasket | What does a Valve Cover Gasket do?
A valve cover to an engine is as important as a brain to a human body. Even though the heart is beating, if the brain is damaged, the whole body cannot function properly.
Oil leaking on a valve cover can cause serious issues to interfere the engine performance. You may smell burnt oil, engine is always low on oil, or engine is running rough, you will experience above if the valve cover is leaking.
Valve cover gasket is there to prevent these issues; therefore, valve cover gasket is very important, but its effort is often ignored. Normally the valve gaskets are made from rubber, the temperature the valve covers are in is relatively high.
Therefore, the materials MJ choose to manufacture valve cover gaskets have to meet both criteria. The most common materials are FKM and AEM.
